A race that demands everything from the athletes. Endurance, condition, power and mental strength. We are talking about the Horn Attack, the hardest race from Bolzano to the Corno del Renon.
Are you there?
It is already dark, but they still run off, with headlamps, from the capital steeply up on the Renon. They are training for the Horn Attacke, which will take place on 12 March 2022 for the fourth time. First, the participants have to cover a 13.4 km running distance. It leads from Zwölfmagrein in Bolzano, past Eberle, up to Soprabolzano. New this year: The mountain classification named after Ulli Seebacher will be taken there. From Soprabolzano the route continues to Tre Vie, the valley station of the cable car Corno del Renon. Arrived at this changing station, the athletes strap on their skis and, passing the Feltuner Hütte, will tackle a further 6.5 kilometres and 730 metres of altitude difference. The Duathlon ends on the 2.260 meters high Corno del Renon and promises excitement for the spectators along the course.
Saturday 2 March 2024 Once you’ve done that, you'll have covered an incredible 20 km and 2000 meters of altitude difference. The fastest of the last year managed this in 2 hours and 7 minutes, the fastest woman needed 2 hours and 34 minutes, both top performances, but they want to top them this year. Altogether eight different categories compete. There are men's teams, women's teams or mixed teams, one athlete will go on foot and one will continue skiing from Tre Vie. The first three editions were a complete success. Incredible 330 participants, 182 of them single athletes and 74 women's, men's and mixed relay teams, took part in the first edition of the Horn Attacke in 2016.
Once again, great shopping vouchers for the first three of each category will be awarded. The award ceremony including a Pasta Party will take place from 11.30 am at the Feltuner Hütte.
