The Ice Rink at the Ritten Arena set to open Soon:
This winter, the South Tyrolean high plateau will host two major international events: on the first weekend of February (February 1 and 2), the final stage of the Junior World Cup will take place. Just one week later (February 7 to 9), Klobenstein/Collalbo will host the Junior World Championships, marking the undisputed highlight of the 2024/25 season.

During the Junior World Cup held in December 2023, the ice rink at the Ritten Arena once again proved its capability as a venue for top international events. In previous years, six Speed Skating World Cups and the Allround European Championships in 2019 were hosted on the South Tyrolean high plateau. Now, international competitions are returning to Ritten, this time with back-to-back events. First, the Junior World Cup Final will take place at the Ritten Arena, followed immediately by the Junior World Championships on the fast outdoor oval.

After two stages in Poland, the third and final stage of the upcoming winter will culminate in Klobenstein on Saturday, February 1, and Sunday, February 2. Approximately 250 athletes from around 25 nations are expected to compete, as they did in December 2023. Participants will include competitors in the Junior A and B categories (ages 15 to 19) and Neo Seniors (ages 20 to 23), potentially featuring three athletes from Ritten, provided they qualify. These athletes include Maybritt Vigl, Romedius Thurner (both Neo Seniors), and Carmen Thurner. The schedule has already been finalized, with events starting at 9:00 AM on both days. Saturday’s program includes the 1000 meters, 3000 meters, and Team Sprint, while Sunday features the Mass Start, 500 meters, and 1500 meters.

A Back-to-Back Event Highlighting the Junior World Championships
The Ritten organizing committee won’t have much time to rest, as the action continues seamlessly the following weekend. From Friday, February 7, to Sunday, February 9, the Junior World Championships will take place at the Ritten Arena. These championship events mark the conclusion of the season and are reserved for the best speed skaters from the Junior A and B categories of the Junior World Cup. World champions will be crowned not only in individual disciplines (500 meters, 1000 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, Mass Start, Team Pursuit, Team Sprint, and Mixed Relay) but also in the all-around classification.
The program for the Junior World Championships has also been finalized. Additionally, the Junior World Championships will be live-streamed globally, allowing audiences worldwide to follow the action.
