How to get to Rittner Horn
Getting to the Rittner Horn is easy and convenient, whether you’re travelling by car or using public transport.
If you’re driving, the quickest way to reach Pemmern is via Bolzano. From there, simply follow the signs for Ritten and take the well-maintained panoramic road with its wide hairpin bends up to the plateau. Once you’re up top, continue towards Klobenstein and then follow the signs for “Rittner Horn / Pemmern” until you reach the valley station of the cable car.
The drive itself is part of the experience, offering beautiful views of the Dolomites along the way.
If you’re coming from the Eisacktal Valley, you also have the option of travelling via Barbian or Kollmann. Please note, however, that some sections of this route – especially between Kollmann and Saubach, and from Saubach to Lengstein – are quite narrow. In the case of oncoming traffic, you may need to reverse for a short distance, so careful driving is recommended.
The Rittner Horn is also very well connected by public transport. A straightforward option is to take bus 165 from Bolzano to Klobenstein. From there, change to bus 166, which will take you to Pemmern and the valley station in just a few minutes. This is a simple and convenient option with only one transfer.
For a more scenic and memorable journey, take the Ritten cable car followed by the Ritten Railway. From Bolzano, the cable car takes you up to Oberbozen in just a few minutes, with stunning panoramic views along the way. You then continue on the charming railway to Klobenstein. From there, bus 166 will take you comfortably to the valley station of the Rittner Horn.
Whichever way you choose to travel, the journey to the Rittner Horn is already part of the experience and sets the tone for a wonderful day in the mountains.
